Welcome: Hello racers, volunteers, fans, and sponsors, this will be our third annual Brice Prairie Road Bike Race. We are part of the WiSport Series (www.WiSport.org), although you do not have to be a WiSport member to race with us. We had over one hundred and thirty racers in 2007, for all who participated last year a big - Thank You. We are anticipating an even larger number of racers this year. We will have some exciting changes for the Race for 2008 and it looks to be a great time. The entire race route will remain on Brice Prairie (Click here for 40K Race Route *requires Adobe Reader get it here). The racing format offered for 2008 will be a 40 Kilometer time trial with individual, two or four person teams competing. The categories will be female, male, or co-ed. The four person co-ed team must be two male and two female riders. We have Itiming-White River Sports contracted to do the official chip timing this year. This will make it much more efficient for results and for the awards presentation.
When: Saturday June 28, 2008. The Race will start at 9:00 a.m. sharp. We will be limited to 250 riders.
Where: The race will be held on Brice Prairie, a beautiful piece of land located just north of La Crosse and Onalaska, Wisconsin. Brice Prairie borders Lake Onalaska and the Black River to the north and west. Halfway Creek empties into Lake Onalaska at the southeastern corner. Your race route will take you around the entire prairie; you will enjoy a scenic view of Lake Onalaska, the Mississippi River bluffs and many cheering fans along the way. New for 2008: A Raffle to benefit “Friends of Brice Prairie. Some awesome prizes including Specialized Cycle, Garmin Edge 305 GPS, and more (check out the “star” link above). We will be hosting a Spaghetti Dinner on Friday evening June 27, 2008 from 5 until 8 p.m. for those who wish to have a great meal and pick up their starting time and registration packets or for late registrants. The cost of the Spaghetti Dinner including a beverage will be $7.00 and will of course be all you can eat. All of Highway ZB has been repaved with new asphalt. Chip timing will be included in your entry fee. Race entries will be capped at 250. We will not be holding a 20 K race in 2008, 40 K only.

Entry Fee: $30.00 per person until June 25, 2008. All entries received after the deadline or day of race will include a $5.00 late registration fee. To enter send a completed, signed registration form and entry fee to: Brice Prairie Time Trials W7561 County Highway ZB Onalaska, Wisconsin 54650.
Please make checks out to Brice Prairie Time Trials. For team riders please make sure to write your team members names on your registration form. Each participant must complete and sign an entry form.
Your entry fee will cover: The race, electronic timing, t-shirt for pre-registered riders (while we will have some extra t-shirts we cannot guarantee proper size or availability for late registrants), bagels and fruit prior to the race, fruit, snacks and hydration drinks after the race, one ticket per entrant for the Brice Prairie luncheon with one beverage of choice (starts at 11:30 a.m.), winners awards, and entry into raffle drawing for many great bike related prizes. We will have door prizes again for 2008.
Registration: Will be held at Swarthout Park on Brice Prairie (map link) Friday, June 27th from 4:30p.m. until 7:30p.m. and Saturday June 28th from 7 a.m. until race time. Race packet and number pick up for pre-registered riders will be the same times as above. Sorry no refunds for weather or no show.
Race: Time Trial begins at 9:00 a.m. sharp with riders going off in 30 second intervals. It is the rider’s responsibility to be at the start line and ready to race when scheduled. Your assigned start time is and will be your actual start time. Race officials will carefully control the start to make it as easy and free of errors for the riders as possible.
Timing: Timing will be chip timing provided by Itiming.com - White River Sports Timing, the same company that provides timing for Firehouse 50. The Route: The race will begin and end at Swarthout Park. (race route map) This is a strong forty kilometer race measuring at just over 40 kilometers. The roadways are in great condition with the majority of the route recently repaved with new asphalt. The course will be fast, rolling, and include a few technical turns. All corners and intersection will be swept, guarded, and controlled with volunteer marshals. The La Crosse County Sheriff’s Department will be onsite for motor vehicle control during the race. The race route will be well marked with signs and directional arrows. Race officials will be patrolling the route by motorcycle. Awards and Categories per Wisport: The door prize drawings, raffle drawing, followed by the award ceremony will begin at approximately 1:00 p.m. You must be present to win door prizes. You do not have to be present for the raffle prizes to be awarded. Miscellaneous: First Aid and Ambulance Service will be on site, as well as a water station on route with fruit, snacks and hydration drinks being provided at the finish line. . Qualified bike mechanics will be at the park prior to the race and Smith’s Cycling and Fitness will provide the Sag Wagon. River Trail Cycles will have a table set up prior to the race to sell race essentials that you may have forgot or need at the last minute. There will be a Blue Grass Band after the race. Beverages will be sold at the Brice Prairie luncheon. Extra meal tickets for the dinner may be purchased for $8.00. Other refreshment stands will also be located at the park; these will include beer stand, ice cream stand, and others. If you are planning on staying over the night before the race you should book your reservations early as La Crosse is hosting a motorcycling event the same weekend as our race. There should be plenty of availability for rooms however, check out our lodging link above.
Benefits: Proceeds will benefit the Brice Prairie First Responders and Friends of Brice Prairie Conservation Fund.
